How it works

I offer in-house faceting services to my customers. Once I receive the stone, we start out with an assessment of the rough gem and discuss what options there are for a finished stone. A copy of the stones assessment, options, and design will then be sent to you via email for acknowledgement. All work is completed by me, right here in beautiful Hamilton, MT.

Please know that typical weight yields on finished gemstones are between 20-35% of starting rough weight. The yield depends on the rough stone’s shape, integrity, inclusions, optic axis, and requested cut. This means that a rough stone weighing 1 carat will yield a cut stone weighing between 0.2 and 0.35 carats. Though these numbers are typical, I will always strive to give you more yield on your stone, but never at the cost of brilliance. There is a balance in everything in life, and gemstones are no different. If a stone is cut for extreme weight retention, Brilliance suffers do to the incorrect facet angles being used. I retain the most weight I can by custom designing cuts that fit your stones outline shape, while also using optimal angles for the specific gemstone I am cutting. In other words, I let the stone tell me what it would like to be, and design with it, instead of against it.

You will absolutely notice a difference in the brilliance and liveliness of the stones I cut as opposed to cheaper standard round brilliants.

I do ask that rough stones be either weighed or measured before reaching out. Stones weighing less than one carat (0.2g) or measuring less than 5mm may not be economic, as the cost of cutting could be more than the stone is worth.

$150/pc for 4 or fewer stones

$125/pc for 5 or more

I ask that customers pay shipping, handling, and any carrier related insurance if you wish to elect.
